English Department Intent Statement
English is the cornerstone of both the entire school curriculum and post school life. Any success in our subject is felt in all other classrooms.
Our aim is to engage pupils with the subject and to enhance their knowledge and skill in the subject. Pupils who have a strong underpinning in the fundamentals of English, are inspired to make progress and emboldened to put forth their own ideas and creations.
As such, our focus is firmly on a sound grounding in grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary. These are then complimented with more academic skills of analysis, comparison, creation and literary opinion.
